Pesco/pollo vegetarianism or semi-vegetarianism, is the practice of not eating mammals or red meat: no beef, no pork, no lamb, etc. There are usually no restrictions on dairy or eggs. Those observing such a diet often do so for health reasons although many do practice for ethical or religious reasons.
Variations of the practice include pesco-vegetarianism and pollo-vegetarianism.
Avoidance of eggs may be based on ethical concerns about the conditions in which chickens are raised, and/or due to health concerns. Although most pesco-vegetarians do consume dairy, some avoid it for ethical reasons.
