Korn

For the Unix shell, see Korn shell.

Korn (usually written as "KoЯn") is a band from Bakersfield, California. They originally formed as LAPD, which consisted of all the members apart from Jonathan Davis. When he joined the band in 1993, they changed their name to Korn, releasing their debut album Korn in October 1994.

The band, along with Deftones, are thought to be some of the pioneers of the nu-metal genre. Davis' tormented lyrics, brought on by his alleged abuse by his father, coupled with the band's pounding, tribal drums and loud, distorted seven-string guitars have gained the band a great deal of popularity throughout the years. As of 2004 the band continue to be successful, despite making music using a similar formula to the one that served them well ten years earlier.
