In demonology, according to some authors, Agares is a Prince, ruling the eastern zone of Hell, and being served by 30 legions of demons.
Other sources, among them the The Lesser Key of Solomon and Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, say that he is a Duke and has 31 legions under his command, and adds that he can make runaways come back, and those who run stand still. He can also cause earthquakes, and teaches languages finding pleasure in teaching immoral expressions, and has too the power to destroy dignities, both temporal and supernatural.
He is depicted as a pale old man riding a crocodile and with a hawk on his fist.
